The Annual International Conference on Islamic Studies (AICIS) has been a cornerstone of Islamic scholarship in Indonesia since its humble beginnings in 2001 as the Annual Conference on Islamic Studies (ACIS). Initially focused on traditional religious studies, ACIS provided a vital platform for scholars to engage in deep theological and cultural discourse. In 2012, the conference embraced a broader, global vision and was rebranded as AICIS, fostering international dialogue and expanding its reach to include diverse perspectives from around the world.<\/p>\n

In 2025, the 24th AICIS evolves into AICIS+, the Annual International Conference on Islam, Science, and Society, marking a transformative milestone in its journey. This new identity reflects a bold shift, moving beyond traditional Islamic studies to embrace interdisciplinary exploration at the intersection of Islam, science, technology, and societal challenges. AICIS+ aims to foster innovative solutions to pressing global issues, such as environmental sustainability, economic justice, public health, and technological transformation, while remaining rooted in the rich heritage of Islamic scholarship.<\/p>\n

Supported by the Directorate General of Islamic Education, Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, AICIS+ embodies a commitment to advancing Islamic higher education. As Prof. Amien Suyitno, Director General of Islamic Education, aptly stated, \u201cAICIS+ goes beyond theoretical discourse. It aims to connect Islam with empirical inquiry and to foster innovation that can respond to global challenges.\u201d This vision positions AICIS+ as a dynamic platform for collaboration, uniting scholars, practitioners, and innovators to address the complexities of the modern world.<\/p>\n

The upcoming AICIS+ 2025 conference, to be held from 29\u201331 October 2025 at the Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII)<\/strong> campus in Depok, West Java, Indonesia, will showcase this transformative vision.
